General HMC develops its mining operations at Sagasca worksite (Ist Region, Chile), with mine and plant activities to produce 19.000 tons of copper cathodes per year, incorporating top technology in underground mining, leaching, solvent extraction (SX) and electro-winning (EW).

Established in September 2004, copper cathodes produced by the company have excelled because their high quality levels and purity, exceeding the Copper Grade A requirements of the London Metal Exchange and supplying the most demanding strand casting plants in Europe.

The Haldeman Mining Company's shareholders chose he name to pay an homage to Robert M. Haldeman, former General Manager of Sociedad Minera Pudahuel (SMP) and Cía. C.P.A.  Before joining SMP, Haldeman was Executive Vice President of the US company Braden Copper Co., a subsidiary of Kennecott Corporation's El Teniente mine.  Haldeman was one of the pioneers in commercializing the Thin Layer (TL) heap leach technology discovered by Dr. P.H. Johnson in the United States and later improved and industrialized by Sociedad Minera Pudahuel.
