General	Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd. is a mining company focused on exploration and development of gold and base metals. The Company has six operating segments. The mine-produced gold segment is engaged in the production of gold bullion through the CompanyÆs integrated processes, which includes mining, processing and refining. The processed gold segment is engaged in the production of gold bullion by refining gold ore. The copper cathodes segment is engaged in the production of copper cathodes. The zinc bullion segment is involved in the production of zinc bullion. The ore concentrates segment comprises, principally, the production of gold concentrates, copper concentrates, zinc concentrates and iron concentrates, and the corporate and others segment comprises, principally, the production of vitriol, copperplate, silver and iron. During the year ended December 31, 2009, it produced a total of 75,372.67 kilograms (2,423,286 ounces) of gold. Joint ventured FUJIAN ZIJIN COPPER CO., LTD. was established in Aug 2004 under ratification by Fujian Provincial Government. The registered capital is RMB 129 million yuan, and majority share holding by ZIJIN MINING GROUP CORPORATION, and actual investment reaches RMB 470 million yuan. The company annual production is 20,000 ton of high precision copper alloy strips, mainly of phosphor bronze, zinc white copper, pure copper and connection frames. The company occupies 13.5 hectares with construction area of 30,000 square meters, and consists of melting and horizontal continuous casting shop, cold rolling shop and auxiliary shop mainly. Key equipment are imported from famous German and Japanese companies, especially 20-hi rolling mill is top up-to-date copper strip processing equipment in the world. The product can be used in electronics, electrics, automobile, decoration etc industries.

News	February 2, 2012 - ZIJIN Mining Group Co said it has suspended the production of a copper smelting plant in southeastern Fujian Province after a gas poisoning accident killed three workers during the Spring Festival holiday. A repair worker fainted after entering a clogged tank in the plant and three other workers also collapsed as they tried to rescue their colleague, Zijin Mining said in a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange today. It said three workers died of gas poisoning and one was saved and is now in stable condition. An investigation is under way in the 200,000-ton-a-year copper smelting plant that was in trial operation. The shares of Zijin, China's leading gold and copper producer, fell almost 7 percent in morning trade in Hong Kong. February 1, 2012 - Three workers were killed by poisonous gas as they were repairing a clogged chemical tank in a copper smelting plant in the coastal Fujian Province, Beijing Times reported today. The three victims were employees of the Zijin Copper Corporation, a subsidiary of the publicly listed Zijin Mining Group Co. Zijin said the accident occurred on Thursday afternoon when a chemical tank in the plant became clogged. One worker entered the tank to remove the blockage but suddenly passed out. His three co-workers tried to rescue him but also lost consciousness. The four were rushed to a hospital immediately but three of them were pronounced dead. One was out of danger after emergency treatment, the report said. Zijin Copper Corporation has suspended production in the plant while an investigation is under way, the company said. September 23, 2009 - Outotec has made an agreement with Shanghang County Jinshan Trading Co. Ltd. on the supply of smelter technology and services. The end user will be Zijin Copper Co. Ltd. The contract value is approximately 7 million euros. The agreement covers Outotec® Flash Smelting license, the supply of proprietary process equipment and services for Zijin's copper smelter project in Shanghang, Fujian Province, China. The greenfield smelter is planned to produce an annual 200 000 tonnes of cathode copper. Outotec's material deliveries are scheduled to take place in the third quarter of 2010. Outotec® Flash Smelting technology is the cleanest smelting method available for copper and nickel. Zijin will be the fifth smelter in China using the technology because of its low energy consumption and superior environmental performance. December 31, 2008 - Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd., China's leading gold mining and refining company, and its majority shareholder Minxi Xinghang Sate-owned Assets Investment Co., Ltd. plan to establish a 50-50 copper venture. Named Zijin Copper Co., Ltd., the new firm will register CNY 1 billion in capital and operate a 200,000-ton copper smelting project as its major business. The board of directors of the venture will have six seats, three owned by Zijin Mining. In line with the feasibility study report, the copper smelting project will need total investment of CNY 2.614 billion, including CNY 2.096 billion for fixed assets and CNY 518 million for start-up fund. After a 36-month construction, it will be capable of producing 90,000 tons of high-purity copper cathodes, 10,000 tons of standard copper cathodes, 730,000 tons of sulfuric acid, and byproducts of 4.5 tons of gold and 113 tons of silver per year.
