| General | Samsun
Fertilizer Industry Co was established in 1967 to meet the phosphate
fertilizer needs of the country. The facilities are composed of five main
operations: two phosphoric acid production units with concentration
facilities, one sulphuric acid production unit, two fertilizer units for
Diammonium Phosphate and Compound fertilizers. The initial facilities
became operational in 1970 and were composed of Triple Superphosphate (45%
P2O5) with 220.000 tons/year capacity, and Phosphoric Acid facilities with
85.760 tons/year capacity. The TSP unit was increased in capacity through
rehabilitation investments in 1991, upto producing 300.000 tons/year in
different compositions. The second phase of the facilities started construction in 1971. The Diammonium Phosphate (18-46-0) facilities with 227.200 tons/year capacity and Phosphoric Acid facilities with 108.800 tons/capacity became operational in 1973. The modification of the DAP unit to enable compound fertilizer production was completed in 2001. NP (20.20.0) compound fertilizer production started the same year. Further modifications were completed in 2002 to produce NPK (12.30.12) compound fertilizer. Construction started in 1968 for Sulphuric acid facilities with production capacity of 214.500 tons/year and the plant started operating in 1971. Toros Fertilizer and Chemical Industry Co. Inc, a member of Tekfen Group has acquired Samsun Fertilizer Industry (affiliate of Tugsas - Turkiye Fertilizer Industry Co. Inc) from the Privatization Agency on July 04, 2005. The two companies were merged in Nov. 2005 under the name “Toros Agri Industry and Trade Co. Inc”. |
