General The Chemical complex was established in 1976 by a Belgian company "Sybetra" as a general contractor with a capital of 350 million Iraqi dinars and started production in 1985.  The Complex consists of a set of integrated and interrelated plants to produce chemical fertilizers as a final product.  These plants are (ore beneficiation plant, sulfuric acid plant, phosphoric acid plant, the utilities plant, fertilizers plants, ammonia plant, fluorine salts plant, and materials handling plant). The main objective of the company is to carry out the detailed exploration and investigations of phosphate deposits as well as production and transfer of phosphate ores for beneficiation and production of phosphate fertilizers, compound fertilizers and various products and by-products including complementary industries for the production of phosphatic compounds.

Akashat phosphate mine is located in the province of Anbar in the western desert at Akashat region sites between Alqaim district and Rutba district about 150 km southwest ,The main task of the mine is limited by the extraction of the phosphate rocks ,crushing , loading and conveying the raw materials by rail wagons to the chemical Complex in Allqaim .Akashat phosphate mine project is an integrated production unit owns their workshops ,vehicles and warehouses as well as other requirements necessary for production operations. Akashat is an open pit mine of design capacity reaches 3.4 million ton per year with 12 hours work a day the mine capacity can be duplicated according to working hours.
