General Our humble beginnings date back over 60 years ago when the father of the present owner pioneered the first sulfuric acid production plant in Malaysia. Our present owner, Alex Koo, joined this business some 30 years ago and have since continued the legacy. Over the years, we at SPCI HELM have contributed to generations of customers who have relied on us for products and services that are integral to the end products we see and use every day.

News May 31, 2022 - South Pacific Chemical Industries Group (“SPCI”) and HELM AG (“HELM”) have agreed on a long-term partnership. In November 2021, the two companies signed a sales and purchase agreement with the goal to enter into a 50/50 joint venture as of June 2022.  Within the new partnership, SPCI will contribute its extensive knowledge in the production of inorganic chemicals, while HELM will provide its supply chain know-how and commercial expertise through its global market presence. HELM’s international marketing knowledge and infrastructure supports SPCI’s successful entry into the larger Southeast Asia region, while HELM will benefit from SPCI’s role as a known and trusted producer and distributor in the region.  "Being not only a distributor, but a trusted producer in Asia through the help of SPCI is a tremendous breakthrough for HELM. We are very much looking forward to the steps ahead in this venture. The cooperation will strengthen HELM´s portfolio of inorganic chemicals and enables us to build an even stronger positioning in the Southeast Asian markets,“ states Stephan Schnabel, CEO of HELM AG. Through SPCI’s second location in Singapore, HELM will additionally build up a local distribution hub to orchestrate the activities in Asia even better.  The partnership of the two owner-led family businesses is based on a solid strategic fit and broad share of values, as SPCI owner, Alex Koo explains: “When learning about the similarities in the history and the current set up of our businesses, the decision to invite HELM on board was a natural and eager one. We feel happy and are content to have found a promising partner in HELM and are excited to tackle new regions with our products soon.”
