Some years after the implementation of the WSA plant, the introduction of natural gas made the gasifier redunant.  However, due to the advantageous heat economy of the WSA plant, the client decided to convert the overall plant to a power plant and expand its capacity.

Fuel consumption: 1000 Nm³/h (LHV=2821 kcal/Nm³)

The Group's principal activity is the production of lignite for factories and power suppliers, sorted coal for factories and households, briquets, generator gas, technical gases (oxygen and nitrogen), crushed and sorted stone, clay and chemical products (tar, fennol concentrate, liquid ammonia, sulfuric acid and other). The Company exploits about 10 million tons of lignite per year, of which 6 million tons is sold. The rest is used to produce 3.4 TWh of electricity and 300,000 tons of briquets. The Company also distributes power to the nearby agglomeration including the city of Karlovy Vary. It is the largest independent producer of electricity in the country. Solid fuels accounted for 34% of 2003 revenues; electricity, 33%; sale of goods, 12%; services, 9% and others, 12%.
