News July 15, 2003 - The Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia (NCZ) needs about US$2.5 million to rehabilitate and re-start its acid plant in order to increase its revenue base.  NCZ general manager Reuben Mulenga said in a recent interview that the project to resuscitate the acid plant was vital as the facility was one of the company's major survival lines.  Mr Mulenga said NCZ was also negotiating with Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) which was in dire need of acid, to help it with pyrites from Nampundwe mine for use in the acid production.  Most mining firms currently import their acid from South Africa.  Mr Mulenga said the acid plant was capable of going into operation within three months of the money being sourced.
