News	August 3, 2010 - Long-embattled Jade Technologies is proposing to offer shareholders two new shares for every three held after posting third quarter net profit of $400,000, reversing nine years of losses. It follows a chequered history littered with disappointments. The rights issue involves issuing up to 1.64 billion new ordinary shares at one cent each. This sale is expected to raise about $16.1 million in net proceeds which will be used to fund expansion opportunities in its core titanium-related business. Jade group president Spencer Chan said that while future plans were still in their preliminary stages, they include the expansion of its sulphuric acid plant to reduce exposure to raw material price fluctuations and possible merger and acquisition opportunities. '(The Chinese titanium dioxide market) is fragmented, there's no one major player. It gives opportunity for an enterprising organisation with the right mangement and the right backing to consolidate and to bring about a coalition of various titanium dioxide businesses,' he said. However, Jade's executive chairman Zhou Wei Jian said that winning back the trust and confidence of investors was one of the firm's biggest challenges.
