Remarks Desulfurization project with ion solution circulation absorbing method of Zijin Mining Group in Bayannaoer, Inner Mongolia.  The project for desulfurization of sulfuric acid plant tail gas and coal-burning boiler offgas of Zijin Mining Group in Bayannaoer of Inner Mongolia is designed by ENFI to treat about 180000m3/h (work condition) of offgas with a SO2 concentration of 2500mg/Nm3.The whole set of the desulfurization system includes offgas absorption device, regeneration device and absorption solution desalination device, as well as necessary water, power, steam supply systems and instrument/control system.  This project was commissioned smoothly in Aug. 2008; its desulfurization rate is higher than 98.5% and SO2 in cleaned offgas lower than 50mg/Nm3.
In this project, renewable organic solution----“ion solution” with self-developed IPR in China is used as desulfurization absorbent, then, with adoption of the classical  “absorption-desorption” process in chemical industry, it is possible to absorb SO2 under low temperature, desorb SO2 under high temperature and make absorbent regenerate.SO2-enriched off-gas from desorption is used for producing sulfuric acid, thus changing waste material into things of value. This is the first set of commercial desulfurization project for removing and recovering SO2 from the offgas with ion solution circulation absorbing method”, which was awarded the first prize of 2010 Science and Technology Progress in Nonferrous Metals Industry.

General Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd. is a mining company focused on exploration and development of gold and base metals. The Company has six operating segments. The mine-produced gold segment is engaged in the production of gold bullion through the Company's integrated processes, which includes mining, processing and refining. The processed gold segment is engaged in the production of gold bullion by refining gold ore. The copper cathodes segment is engaged in the production of copper cathodes. The zinc bullion segment is involved in the production of zinc bullion. Since the end of 2004 began to intervene zinc industry, initiated the establishment of Bayannur Zijin Nonferrous Metals Co., Ltd., invested in an annual output of 100,000 tons of zinc smelter, the company has an annual output of 110,000 tons zinc, 200,000 tons of sulfuric acid capacity and plans to build two projects. Company production of "purple" zinc, has successfully become Shanghai Futures Exchange deliverable brand.  September 2005 established Wulatehouqi Zijin Mining Co., Ltd., has completed a 630,000 tons / year of mining production capacity. And through the integration of resources, strengthening resource exploration and development, control of resources amounted to 3.15 million tons of zinc and zinc business has become an important group of economic growth. 

Bayannur Zijin Non-Ferrous Metals Co.Ltd (Zijin Zinc Limited) is one of the eight lead-zinc companies which are examined and approved firstly by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MII) . Zijin is a large-scale non-ferrous metal smelting enterprise, key industrial enterprise in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and one of autonomous regions circular economic model enterprises, the "top 50" enterprise IRS tax and the national model harmonious labor relations enterprise. The Zijin band of special high zinc is the LME delivery brand.     Zijin was Founded in October 2004, the registered capital is 375 million RMB and the total capital is 3.08 billion RMB. The project of 200,000 tons Zinc-production per year which has totally invested 3 billion RMB is to be constructed in two phases and use the advanced Electrolytic zinc process of Yellow potassium sink vanadium except the wet iron. Now the annual outputs of zinc ingots are 220,000 tons and the sulfuric acid 400,000tons and the annual production value is more than 4 billion RMB. The holding company of Zijin Mining Group Co.,Ltd is a high-tech and efficiency super-group of mining company, which expertise in exploring the gold and basic metals. It is one of the Top 500 enterprises globally. It is the largest gold producer in China, the third copper producer in China, it controls and occupies the biggest metallic mineral resources in China. Its shares has been listed in Shanghai and Hong Kong. 

Bayannur Zijin Non-Ferrous Metals Co.Ltd is located in the Wulatehochi which is rich in zinc resources. As around the plant is lead-zinc ore belt of Dongshengmiao and Tanyaokou, which can provide zinc concentrate more than 250,000 tons annually. The company attaches great importance on self-sufficiency and security of raw materials, active integration and mineral resources risk exploration. Currently, Zijin has one holding mine and one shareholding mine in local, controls the zinc metal resources of over 3 million tons. Raw materials self-sufficiency rate are above 50 percent; Zijin has 17 mining rights, mining right area above 1,000 square kilometers.

September 18, 2008 - On 15 September, with the cracking sound of firecrackers, the last piece of high alumina brick was laid into the cap of the 109M3 Lurgi roasting furnace, the biggest one in China, and the furnace is successfully topped off. It indicates that the key part of pyrometallurgical system of the project – roasting furnace is ready for use.  The construction of the 109M3 roasting furnace is divided into four sections with three layers. The four sections are fluidization beeline section, tapered section, chamber expansion section and top section. The three layers are pasted asbestos Sheets, heat-insulation bricks and high alumina bricks. With the joint effort by Baryannaoer Zijin Non-ferrous Metal Co. Ltd. , Supervision party and construction party, the construction of furnace is completed more than 10 days ahead of schedule. Now the pyrometallurgical system of the 200000 MT/year Renovation & extension Project has entered the stage of full installation.
