January 26, 2023 - Azerbaijani "Azersulfate" LLC sulfuric acid producer will start exporting the first batch of its own products (250-300 tons) to Georgia in the coming days, said Director of the company Emil Guliyev during a media tour, Trend reports.  According to him, the overall volume of exported products will be 7,500 tons.  He noted that currently, Azerbaijan's demand for sulfuric acid is 11,000 tons per year.  "The production capacity of the "Azersulfate" LLC sulfuric acid plant is 20,000 tons per year, and this figure reaches 60 tons per day," Guliyev said.  He stressed that the plant is an environmentally friendly enterprise, and its emissions into the atmosphere are almost zero.  "The plant, built on 1.5 hectares of the industrial park, produces sulfuric acid with a concentration of 93 and 98 percent by contact process [method of producing concentrated sulfuric acid]," Guliyev added.  According to him, it is expected that the "Azersulfate" LLC will purchase sulfur at the SOCAR oil refinery in 2023.  "It is planned to expand the plant (increase its capacity) once it achieves its 100-percent production capacity. In addition, it is also planned to start production of other products, such as ammonium sulfate," Guliyev said.  In December 2022, "Azersulfate" LLC commissioned a sulfuric acid production plant.  As many as 42 people are provided with permanent jobs at the enterprise, which has an investment volume of more than 10 million manat ($5.8 million). Since the beginning of its operations, the company has sold more than 1,600 tons of products on the domestic market.

July 21, 2022
- The production capacity of Azerbaijan’s Azersulfat LLC plant is 20,000 tons of sulfuric acid per year, and this figure reaches 60 tons per day, Director of the Azersulfat LLC Emil Guliyev told reporters, Trend reports.  According to Guliyev, Azerbaijan's current demand for sulfuric acid is 10,000 tons per year.  "We have completed testing of equipment by 95 percent. After receiving raw material - sulfur, our central furnace will be launched. After 12 days, we will start producing finished products," he said.  The director noted that the main consumers of the plant's products are the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), gold mining enterprises, textile factories, and others.  "We expect to purchase sulfur at the SOCAR refinery in 2023. Before that, we plan to import it from Turkmenistan and Russia, after which we’ll switch to local raw material," Guliyev also noted. "We’ve already signed contracts for the export of our products to Georgia. The supply is scheduled for the end of August. Contracts have also been signed with local enterprises. We plan to start exporting 98 percent sulfuric acid in the near future."  He added that the Azersulfat LLC plant is an environmentally friendly enterprise, and its emissions into the atmosphere are almost zero.

December 8, 2021 - 'Glassica' CJSC and 'Azersulfat' LLC are planned to be commissioned in Azerbaijan in the first half of 2022, Trend reports referring to the State Tax Service under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy.  Azersulfat LLC will produce sulfuric acid, while Glassica CJSC - glass containers. Both enterprises are among the production facilities that will stimulate the expansion of production and export.  Presently, construction and installation work is underway. At the same time, the equipment to be used in the production process is being imported from Germany and China.  The investment value of Glassica CJSC is $12 million, of which $7 million has already been invested in the project. Some 75 percent of the construction work has been completed.  The investment value of Azersulfat LLC is $6 million, $2.9 million has already been invested in the project. Some 60 percent of the work has been completed.  More than 200 permanent jobs will be created at the enterprises. Both facilities are planned to be commissioned in the first half of 2022.

January 18, 2021 - President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the Azersulfat LLC sulfuric acid production plant and Glassica CJSC glass container production plant and inaugurated the Azerfloat CJSC thermoforming sheet glass plant at the Sumgayit Chemical Industry Park.  Industrialization and the development of the non-oil industry are among the key directions of President Ilham Aliyev's policy towards economic diversification. In this regard, along with other sectors of the economy, special attention is being paid to the development of industry. Systematic measures are taken to attract existing natural and economic resources to production and broader application of advanced technologies.  In accordance with the policy of industrialization, hundreds of modern industrial enterprises and new production facilities are being set up in Azerbaijan. The share of local products in meeting the domestic demand is significantly increasing and export opportunities are expanding.  At present, the development of the industry through the introduction of innovative models represents particular importance. Advanced mechanisms such as industrial parks and agricultural parks and estates aligned with global challenges open up extensive new opportunities for expanding the production of export-oriented goods, further reducing the dependence on oil and gas, developing competitive industries based on innovative technologies and increasing employment opportunities. The investment cost of the plant to be built under the “production of sulfuric acid” project of Azersulfat LLC is $6 million. The plant is expected to produce 20,000 tons of acid a year. The plant, which will start operating at the end of this year, will create more than 30 jobs.  The head of state laid the foundation of the enterprise.  It was noted that 5,000-10,000 tons of sulfuric acid were imported to Azerbaijan annually in the last three years alone, and the launch of this plant will help to replace imports with local production. The sulfuric acid will also be exported to Georgia and Russia at further stages.
