	- Sunidhi Securities is bullish on Oriental Carbon and Chemicals (OCCL) and
has recommended buy rating on the stock with a target of Rs 150 in its March
	1, 2011 research report.  “Oriental
Carbon and Chemicals (OCCL), a company belonging to the Duncan JP Goenka
group of companies, traces its origin to 1978 when it was incorporated as
Dharuhera Chemicals Limited. In 1994 OCCL set up a unit for manufacturing of
Insoluble Sulfur (Capacity 10, 000 tpa), which later emerged as the star
product of the group. OCL also manufactures Sulphuric Acid and Oleums with
capacity of 41,250 tpa and 13,750 tpa respectively. OCCL’s Insoluble Sulfur
units are situated at Dharuhera, in the Indian State of Harayana about 80
Km. South West of New Delhi. Insoluble Sulfur manufactured in this plant is
marketed as "Diamond Sulf" in India and around the world.”
“Duncan Goenka Group is today highly diversified with 20 operating companies
and a workforce of 40,000 employees. Its present turnover of Rs 40 billion,
places it amongst the top ten industrial groups in the country. The core
business of OCCL is manufacturing and sales of Insoluble Sulphur, a
vulcanizing agent used in the rubber industry. Manufacture of tyres and
different types of rubber articles like belts, hoses and other goods wherein
long compound storage, prevention of premature vulcanisation, superior
adhesion and green tack and use of various reinforcements are pre-requisites
for manufacturing superior quality products. Sulphuric Acid is used as
sulphonating agent in manufacture of detergents and in other inorganic
chemicals. Insoluble Suplhur produced by OCL is sold globally. Exports
constituted 60% of sales in 2010.”
“The debottlenecking exercise has added another 2, 000 tpa to the capacity
of Insoluble Sulphur (Total capacity 12, 000 tpa). However, with addition of
new customers/plants and economic revival, the current capacity is already
sold out. The work on a new plant for Insoluble Sulphur at SEZ Mundra to
increase the capacity by 11, 000 tpa in two phases is on track and the first
phase for 5,500 tpa is expected to be completed by 4th quarter of 2011.
Traditionally, the global demand growth rate for Insoluble Sulphur has been
about 4% per annum. This year, demand for Insoluble Sulphur picked up
significantly due to recovery in demand in international as well as domestic
market. This increase in demand geared up the sales so that the increased
production was also sold and inventories from last year were liquidated. The
ensuing expansion gives strong visibility of revenue & profitability going
forward. Buy for a target price of Rs 150,” says Sunidhi Securities research
	report. | |
