General Avdeyevka Coke and Chemicals Plant belongs to Metinvest Group and is Europe’s biggest and technically advanced coke and chemical enterprise. The plant supplies over 30 types of products majoring in coke for steel industry. The enterprise produced over 3m tonnes of coke in 2007. Avdeyevka Coke and Chemicals Plant belongs to Coal and Coke Division of Metinvest Group.

System Capital Management (SCM) is Ukraine’s leading financial and industrial group and is headquartered in Donetsk, Eastern Ukraine.  SCM’s activity is focused on six core business areas: mining and metals, electric power generation and distribution, finance, telecommunications, media and real estate. In addition, SCM manages and controls assets in other industry sectors including clay mining, retail trade and oil products trade.  SCM Group consolidated revenue for 2007 was $9.563 billion.  With over 100 companies under the control of its shareholding (including intermediate ownership) and over 165,000 employees, SCM is one of the largest domestic investors in the Ukrainian economy and plans to invest $6 billion within 2006-2010.

Avddivka Coke plant is the largest among the Ukrainian coke and chemicals companies.   Avdiivka Coke accounts for 20% of gross coke produced in Ukraine.  The company’s products are well marketed in Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Turkey, Egypt.  Avdiivka Coke employs over 6 thousand people.

The plant was established in 1963 with the coke battery No. 1 having produced its first coke.  Since then the plant started to develop gradually to become the leader of coke industry of Ukraine. In 1973 the Coking shop No. 1 was commissioned followed by Coking shop No. 3 (1976) and Coking shop No. 4 (1980).  Avdiivka Coke plant was the first in the industry to develop chemicals production.  During its history the company produced over 200 Mt of metallurgical coke, processed over 12 Mt of carbon tar, produced over 3.7 Mt of phthalic anhydride, about 2.1 Mt of benzene and 2.5 Mt of ammonium sulphate.
